Chickweed Killer Vinegar
Vinegar contains acetic acid making it an ideal cleaner and general household agent.
Chickweed killer vinegar. In the fall apply a pre emergent weed killer designed to get rid of chickweed before it takes root. Let it drain or use the back of a spoon to press the liquid through. This is especially important if you have children or pets or prefer to use an inexpensive alternative. If it is wet stem nodes and seeds on the ground may germinate and hence the chickweed will return in no time.
For a natural herbicide spray distilled white vinegar on patches of chickweed in your garden to kill them. As stated above white vinegar contains acetic acid an ingredient known to kill off weeds. The higher the acidic level in the vinegar the more effective it will be in killing the plant. Removing mouseear chickweed by hand is difficult because it is dense and low growing.
If the chickweed is isolated or if damage to turf has been deemed acceptable a natural weed killer could be used like a vinegar solution boiling water or other non selective natural herbicide. Horticultural vinegar such as green gobbler vinegar weed grass killer provides a natural solution. Horticultural vinegar includes a much higher percentage of acetic acid than white vinegar or other commercial food grade kinds of vinegar. Not only does the vinegar kill the growth the high acidic levels mixed with the soil prevent it from easily growing there.
However if you opt for applying natural chickweed killer we highly recommend you to use chickweed killer vinegar. The simplest way to kill chickweed is to remove it by hand. Target chickweed within a lawn or near other plants with an organic herbicide. This high acidity allows it to kill off pernicious weeds such as chickweed.
White vinegar is in many natural weed killer recipes sometimes even as much as a gallon of white vinegar. In the blender add the chickweed greens and apple cider vinegar. It is because vinegar gives a great output in terms of eliminating all kinds of chickweeds including purple chickweed mouse ear chickweed and star chickweed. Pour the pureed chickweed mixture into the sieve and strain.
Line the sieve with a double layer of cheesecloth and place over a bowl. Before pulling the chickweed make sure that the ground is dry. There are many on the market but you can also reach into your pantry and use white vinegar. Place the vinegar in a spray bottle and spray it directly onto the chickweed.
Spray the weed killer over your entire lawn or garden. These solutions are non selective though and will kill any grass it happens to come in contact with. Pour an organic herbicide or vinegar directly over the chickweed to kill it organically as opposed to using chemicals. Puree until completely smooth adding more apple cider vinegar if necessary.
In the springtime apply a post emergent weed killer to your entire lawn or garden.
